bhave is offered in two different formulations: bhave Smoothe PLUS and Smoothe XT. Each provides beautiful smooth hair but each has its strengths and which you choose will depend on the condition of your hair, how much curl you'd like to retain and how soon you'd like to show off your fantastic newly manageable hair.

Which One Should You Choose?
Maintenance Note: For both treatments, using the bhave rescue home care range is essential. These sulfate- and sodium chloride-free products contain the same Replicine™ Functional Keratin to replenish your hair and ensure your results last as long as possible.
Choose Smoothe PLUS if your hair is severely compromised by bleach or highlighting and you still want to keep some of your natural movement and body.

Choose Smoothe XT if you want to "temporarily divorce" your curls for a much flatter, sleek finish and want the convenience of immediate washing and styling.

bhave is enriched with keratin, argan oil, collagen and glycolic acids, curls will be softened, waves will be smoothed and hair will be easier to manage for up to four months with no frizz, no fuss and especially good – no formaldehyde. bhave Smoothe XT is completely finished in the salon, so you can colour or highlight on the same day if you wish. There is zero downtime, so you can immediately tie or clip your hair back if the mood takes you!
At Glow we usually recommend that any lightening services (eg a full or half head of highlights) be applied before your keratin smoothing service and tinting, toning or semi-permanent colouring is recommended AFTER your keratin smoothing service.
bhave treatments are not straightening treatments and, unlike other straightening services, does not restructure the hair. As a result, hair looks more natural with enhanced body, movement and manageability.

At-home maintenance is easy – This treatment does have a smoothing effect when you ‘wash and go’, for the best results you should apply heat after each wash, either blow-dry and style or allow your hair to air dry to 85% dry and finish off with a 5-minute blow-dry and a couple of passes with your straighter – to get that perfect salon finish!

The Ingredients
​The active ingredient in bhave Smoothe XT treatment is Glycolic Acid.
​
While traditional smoothing treatments often rely on acetic acid, Smoothe XT utilizes glycolic acid to provide a more intensive straightening effect while allowing for zero downtime (meaning you can wash or color your hair the same day).

Primary Active Components

Glycolic Acid: Acts as the main smoothing and softening agent, reducing curl and frizz more effectively than the original "Smoothe Plus" formula.

Replicine™ Functional Keratin: A patented, bioactive keratin derived from New Zealand sheep's wool. Unlike hydrolyzed keratin, this is extracted without high heat, keeping the proteins intact so they can bind to and rebuild the hair’s internal structure.

Amino Acids: Concentrated acids that penetrate the hair shaft to restore elasticity and strength.

The Results

How is bhave™ Smoothe XT different to bhave™ Smoothe Plus? Smooth XT makes your hair silky, shiny, beautiful and manageable through intensive keratin therapy, just like the Smoothe Plus, however instead of using acetic/silk amino acid, bhave Smoothe XT uses glycolic acid.
With bhave™ Smoothe XT you can wash and colour your hair the same day as your treatment. bhave™ Smoothe XT is effective on all most all hair types, protecting and repairing damage, leaving hair more manageable, shiny, silky and smooth. bhave Smoothe Plus
Oh bhave! Why be frizzy when you can be fabulous?!
bhave Smoothe Plus treatment is paraben and formaldehyde-free, using raw, rather than heat treated keratin. The keratin is a bioactive keratin protein, gently extracted from New Zealand sheep’s wool, keeping the critical amino acids and proteins as intact as possible. The keratin penetrates the hair shaft and is able to bind to severely damaged hair, supporting the internal structure and restoring strength, elasticity and shine to damaged hair.

bhave Smoothe Plus is suitable for all hair types, however, it is most effective on chemically damaged, dry and porous hair as the improvement in the condition is significant in these cases.
The bhave Smoothe Plus salon treatment will take 2.5 to 3 hours. For the first 48 hours after your treatment, you must ensure that you do not wet/wash or tie back your hair, as the keratin needs time to settle into the hair. After 48 hours the hair should be washed, blow-dried and ideally ironed again for best results, this can be done in the salon or in your own home.
The bhave Smoothe Plus treatment is enriched with keratin, argan oil, collagen and silk amino acids, if you have curls they will be softened or loosened and if you have wavy hair it will be smoothed. bhave Smoothe plus is a heat-activated therapy and does not permanently change the internal structure of the hair. It washes out slowly over time and conquers the frizz by smoothing out the hair cuticle making hair more manageable and quicker to dry.
While there are no known adverse side effects, at Glow, we recommend that pregnant women and nursing mums consult their physician if they are at all concerned, prior to this and any type of hair treatment.

The aftercare is simple, bhave Smoothe Plue will have a smoothing effect when you ‘wash and go’, however for the best results you should apply heat after each wash. This can be as simple as a quick blow dry and smooth with flat irons at home. The treatment will last up to 4 months, at Glow we highly recommended that the bhave rescue home care shampoo and conditioner are used to extend the longevity of this treatment.
