The active ingredient in sunless organic and toxin-free products is called DHA or Dihydroxyacetone. It’s derived from Aloe Vera. DHA is a colourless substance that interacts with the dead skin cells located in the stratum corneum (top layer) of the epidermis.
The TGA in Australia and the FDA in the USA have approved the use of DHA for tanning, and most importantly, DHA doesn’t turn you orange!
Application
The application appointment takes our trained therapists approximately 30 – 45 minutes in the salon.
Both tans contain a bronzer, so as we apply, we can clearly see the application. The bronzer is a very natural colour, and you will leave the salon with a beautiful golden tan that will continue to develop in colour in the following hours.
How to Prepare for your Spray Tan?
Before you come into the salon, it is good to have any shaving or waxing already done.
When you have your shower the night or morning before your spray tan, make sure you scrub your elbows, knees and ankles, using an exfoliator if you have one, as this will prevent the tan from over-absorbing into the dry areas of your skin.
What Happens at the Spa?
When you come to the spa, we will give you moisturiser to apply to the typically dry areas, like your elbows, knees and ankles, before we begin the spray tan.
We also have disposable underwear, or you can go without or wear your own if you prefer. Lastly, we provide ‘sticky feet’ – a slip that covers your soles to prevent the tan from getting on the bottom of your feet.
How long will it take for the tan to develop?
There are a few options; depending on the tanning brand you choose, you can shower 1-4 hrs after your spray tan, or you may select the overnight tan that you would typically wear 8-12 hrs before showering.
Both tanning brands develop to very similar colours, and both offer natural golden brown tones or earthy brown tones.

What should I wear after the tan?
After your tan, it is best to wear something loose-fitting, like gym clothes. Ideally, long sleeves and long legs pants (like loose leggings) will protect your tan from any drops of rain or drips from AC units after you leave the salon.
Also, we suggest you have flip-flops to wear home for your feet.
How long will the tan last?
The tan usually lasts at least 7-10 days and up to 2-3 weeks (or sometimes even longer) when you use the gradual tan as an extender.
We have gradual tan and tan extender available for both brands at the salon.

What does a spray tan cost?
An Express Tan (1-4 hours development) is $680 a regular spray tan (8-12 hours development) is $580. Packages of five or ten sessions are also available.
Are there any risks?
There are a small percentage of people whose skin may not react favourably to spray tanning. For this reason we do not advise being sprayed for the first time when your appearance is critical e.g weddings.
